Thanks to all participants and volunteers who helped make our 10th Annual United Way 5K-2Mile Walk our best ever.   We had 323 registered for this year’s race.   I am most impressed by how many families came together to participate in this year’s event.  Special thanks to Stinger, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Bruiser, Columbus Destroyers for joining us.    They were great sports and although they couldn’t win in the Kid’s fun run, they added excitement for the kids participating.

Thanks to Mike Smith, JV Production Group for your commentary, sound and finish line set-up. We couldn’t do it without you Mike!    Thanks to Ed Campbell and his fellow members of the Lancaster Fairfield County Amateur Radio Club.    We needed you on the course directing traffic and needed your radios to ensure our times were correct for the 1 mile and 2 mile marks.

Walkers exceeded 100 this year, with Barbara Jahn, winning the 2 mile competition at 22.44 minutes.   Thad Davis, at age 80, was third finishing at 24.17 minutes.   Just goes to show you that you can walk at any age!  The Westerman Companies won for largest number of participants, 22 in the walk.  This is their 3rd consecutive year as winners.
 
Congratulations to our first time winner for our Corporate Running team, Liberty Union Middle School.  Nine teams participated this year.

We are already looking forward to next year’s race.    Hope everyone enjoyed the wonderful weather, the racecourse and most importantly the great workout.   It’s the healthy lifestyle and family traditions that matter.
