BOLD GOAL: INCREASE SOCIAL COMPETENCIES AND PROTECTIVE FACTORS


Target:
By 2016, 90% of high school seniors will report having a trusted adult at home and 70% will report having a trusted adult at school in which they can confide.

Strategies:
• Increase civic participation
• Increase rates of voter registration of 18-21 year olds
• Increase volunteering and volunteer opportunities for youth
• Increase life skills
• Decrease delinquency
• Decrease bullying in schools

Progress:
Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring
• 68 high school volunteers in Lancaster, Pickerington North and Central and Bloom Carroll high schools

Boy Scouts Traditional Scouting
• 69% retention as of 6-30-13
• 75% advancement as of 6-30-13
• 100% of Cub Scouts say they attend Scouting activities with their parents
• 94% of Boy Scouts agree that Scouting provides opportunities for community service

Girls Scouts Leadership Development
• 83% of participants that participated in Girl Scouts built a stronger sense of self
• 79% reported that participating in Girls Scouts has built healthy relationships and conflict resolution skills
• 69% reported that participating in Girls Scouts has built positive values and problem solving skills
• 80% reported that participating in Girls Scouts built cooperation and team building skills
