Funding assistance is available for qualified charitable organizations in Fairfield County meeting needs resulting from COVID-19.

The Fairfield County Foundation will administer the Fund in partnership with the United Way of Fairfield County.  Together we will proactively identify potential recipients, solicit guidance on potential recipients from community advisors, and recommend final awards.

Funds will be released on a rolling basis as fundraising continues throughout the outbreak and recovery phases of the crisis, making it possible to move resources quickly and adapt to evolving needs in subsequent funding phases.  The size and number of distributions will depend on the funds available.  Grants will not exceed $5,000.

The current priority of the Fund is to provide resources to qualified charitable organizations operating in Fairfield County that are directly supporting residents whose basic needs are going unmet due to COVID-19.  Qualified charitable organization is defined as follows:

  • 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, but not including private foundations

  • Local governmental units, as described in Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code

An organization is eligible to receive support from the Fund even if it has a current grant with Fairfield County Foundation or the United Way of Fairfield County.  Status as a current grant recipient will not advantage or disadvantage any qualified charitable organization from consideration for funding.

In order to respond to immediate needs and move resources as efficiently as possible, there is no formal application process for this stage of Fund support.
